EX SITU REMEDIATION
Soils contaminated with various organic pollutants can be readily
decontaminated using the process of bioremediation. This process
involves the construction of soil into soil piles, which receive
controlled aeration, a mixture of contaminant degrading microorganisms,
soil modifiers and nutrients.
ARC Geobac has developed and pioneered active biological destruction
process approaches to remediation, which entail the addition of
contaminant adapted microbial consortia, together with soil modifiers,
specific nutrients and agents. These elements when combined with
appropriate soil pile construction methods, allow bioremediation
to become an efficient, controllable and predictable ex-situ cleanup
process. Biopile methodology and processes for use at specific sites
are quality verified through laboratory and pilot scale field testing
at our facilities.
ARC Geobac also uses reductive ex situ techniques to biodegrade
more stable chemicals. While biopile construction is the same, the
chemical and biological process is modified. ARC Geobac has developed
complimentary remedial methodologies to accompany the use of bioremediation
as the ex situ technique of choice. These methods include, soil
washing, pelletization, inclusion and controlled mobilization.
